After merging i5City with Destiny Church in early 2021, Jimmy and Irene joyously stepped into the role of Overseers to what is now called Union Church. A dynamic leader, wife, and mother, Irene is passionate about inspiring and mobilizing people to serve the world by meeting physical and spiritual needs. Pastor Irene’s heartbeat is for the physical, mental, spiritual, and emotional health of all people. She embodies what it means to fight for the life that God has for you in these areas. Most have heard that 2/3 of the people coming to CR are not there for alcohol or drug addiction. How do we create a CR that ministers to people with a variety of hurts, hang-ups and habits?

Recovery teaches us a new way of living in which we can embrace healthy practices and habits. It's true that we often don't change until our pain exceeds our fear of change. But what if instead of experiencing more pain, we allowed ourselves to trust that we could experience a new way of living? What fruit could the principles of recovery have if implemented earlier in our lives? How do we reach the next generation with the message of recovery? In this session, Andy will unpack his experience of entering recovery early in life, the fruit it has yielded, and how our local ministries can be a safe place for all generations.
You Can't Start Recovery Too Early

It's not always fun to invite people into our messy lives. But without others, we are at a high risk of allowing our blindspots to derail our recovery.
If we allow it, God will use those around us as a positive stronghold to protect our recovery. However, it takes effort and a bit of a risk to get the right people in place.
In this session, Roger and Sarah will define Godly accountability, and highlight how valuable it is in protecting us from life's hurts, hang-ups, and habits.

Do you ever feel stuck? Trapped? Like something's got a hold of you and just won't let go? Sadness, worry, self-condemnation, addictions and compulsions, fear, shame, lack of time management, work, toxic relationships, and list goes on and on. You can be brand new in recovery or on the journey for many years and still be in bondage to something. The good news for believers is we have freedom at our fingertips. Galatians 6:1 tells us "It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery." But if Christ set us free for freedom, why are we still in bondage? And how do we avoid the yoke of slavery that Satan and our flesh constantly fight to put on us? In this session Sabrena will share some of her own struggles with bondage and how we can release the burden of "fixing" ourselves by allowing the the Holy Spirit to free us from all that holds us captive.
Celebrating Our Freedom

What happens when it seems like “the dream” God placed in our heart has died? Life happens. Adversity, confusion, the unexpected, along with other obstacles clutter the path leading toward what we’d hoped for. The Dream looses its vigor, becomes a distant memory, and we move on. We have hope! The Lord never forgets the dream. As we keep our eyes on the Promise Keeper, he preserves us, and the dream, for a specific time and distinct environment.
Promises! Promises!
Life has a way of delivering a variety of circumstances. Some are good; others we would like to forget. Every encounter is preparation for the future God has established. We can learn from and embrace the diverse rhythms and detours of life. Consistent and intentional access to God and healthy relationships gives us the ability to embrace and live God’s purpose and plan with confidence.
Dancing with Destiny

Connection reminds me that I'm not alone and that I can face the obstacles ahead.
A life with limited connection with others can feel helpless and lonely. After a season of disconnection it would be easy to fall into some new norms that don't include connecting with others. This can only lead to some added mental health struggles that can leave us feeling helpless and even hopeless.
God wired us for connection. Connection with God and others is one of the key components that keeps us on track on an individual and ministry level. How does connection effect our minds, hearts, and recovery? What do we stand to gain by connecting with others in healthy ways? In this talk, Rodney will unpack these questions and more.
Celebrating Connection After a Season of Disconnection
If rigidity is the core of perfectionism, grace is the core of healthy living. In this season of loss, change and struggles, the enemy attempts to build lies of insecurity and false definitions of how we should see ourselves, others and ministry.
One of these disguised lies the enemy will throw at us is that we have to be perfect and get ir right in order to have value.

Peace in the Midst of Fear
All of us are either heading into a storm, currently in a storm, or coming out of one. That’s just life. While storms are unavoidable, who we turn to and what we learn from the storms can either break us, or prepare us for deeper purpose.
